We believe that health care is a basic human right.  It must be available, coordinated and provided in a comprehensive way, combined with other human services when appropriate.  Home health care is an important part of the continuous health care system and it will be provided in the most cost-effective way possible.

River's Crossing Home Health's philosophy is guided by the following principles:

• Home Health is designed to meet the unique needs of patients and families
• Services are tailored to assist individual and family to achieve optimal level of function
• Care is based on respect for the dignity and worth of each individual
• Services will be provided in the least restrictive setting
• Patient/family are active participants in the care planning process

Why is accreditation important?  Accreditation is regarded as one of the key benchmarks for measuring the quality of an organization, along with its products and services. In the US, standard setting by industry leaders with peer review is widely accepted. 

Preparing for accreditation will disclose the company’s strengths and weaknesses. This stage of the process provides information for management to make decisions regarding operations, whether they are business or patient-care related, in order to improve effectiveness and efficiency of business performance. In other words, organizational self-examination should result in better planning, implementation and further evaluation of all processes.

Accreditation standards provide the catalyst for organizational management strategy. The on-site survey validates the application of those strategies and determines if the company is actually performing according to the goals and objectives it has adopted in its system.*
